Celebrating Marsha: Founder and CEO Charity Sector

I was absolutely overwhelmed. I now ask myself, “what is the best possible outcome”. I am more conscious now. It’s great when people can see your growth and your change.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Welcome to High Definition You, its Gitanjali here and this week, I am joined by the magnificent Marsha, who is doing some incredible things through her charity organisation believe in the world, it was my privilege to have you join our possibility program. Marsha, tell us a little bit about where you were when you started with us. What was happening in your life? What were you struggling with?

Marsha

Okay, so back in October, I was juggling loads of balls, because obviously, I’m in the charity sector, and the pandemic has been a lot. So if I was to describe how I was feeling in one word, I would say absolutely overwhelmed. So that isn’t even one word. That’s but absolutely the pin.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

And you were interested in kind of getting moving through that, obviously, why wouldn’t you be? Was there any resistance? Obviously, coaching takes time, it’s an investment, you went into the group program. So sometimes there’s resistance that shows up around the decision making of whether you say yes or no. Was there any of that view? Before? You said.

Marsha

And the main reason is that I was excited to be coached by you. And to learn more about how the brain how powerful the brain is, for one, because we know that for sure, because everyone told you that, but to experience how experienced the shift, you know, from being in one place, and then move into another, so I was like, yes

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

And loved your enthusiasm from the very beginning and soaking up everything that we covered. So what was the result? How did life change? What did it look like after we’d worked together?

Marsha

And so for me, the changing point for me was understanding that I’m in control of my best possible outcome. So that’s the acronym BPO, that, you know, is always at the forefront of my mind.

Even when I want to be in that down, down the spiral. There’s like, Okay, what is the best possible outcome here? For me, for the situation to be? To have the outcome that I’m looking for? To be fair, though, that was the light bulb that was okay.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Yeah, love it, what is that done for you in terms of you know, you’re leading a team, you’re leading an organisation believe is incredible. If you don’t already know, go away and Google it not now, after this video? How did it change you as a leader, and or as a parent? Because it’s all over? What was the result for you in that space?

Marsha

Okay, so, you know, as a leader, you are always dealing with moving, moving balls, and dealing with conflict and challenges. And it’s easy to be in a very negative place when things don’t look like they’re going your way, or where you would like them to go. So what the whole process has given me is time to be more conscious.

So okay, are you being conscious in your thinking? Are you being conscious in your decision making, give yourself time to think about what is the best possible outcome for this particular challenge, or for this particular person in this conversation, because it’s easy to be in? Problem phase, in that problem phase, I’ve been listening to this lady and she says, You know, when you’re just admiring the problem, you’re just in the problem, rather than, you know, going through to make sure you get to the solution.

So, you know, BPO, BPO, the BPO was his situation was the best, you know, so just having that at the forefront of my mind has really strengthened my decision making and also my emotions.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

What’s been an example of that, like, maybe take me, take me to a moment when because coaching can be you know, as you said, it’s a process. There are aha moments, you have the lightbulb moments, but take me into a moment when you thought, oh, yeah, the coaching is working.

Marsha

struggling with life

Okay. So I, through the coaching, said that there’s one particular person in my life that really triggers me. So in that, when I can feel the trigger, and I know you will say but no one can trigger you. You’re in control of your own emotions. That’s what they say. However, Being able to breathe when you feel okay, this person is triggering me, or I am being triggered by this person being able to bring that level of consciousness. Okay, cool.

I’m hearing what’s happening here or seeing what’s happening here? But how are you going to control your response? You know, how are you going to ensure that you don’t ignite more in the flame? How are you going to blow out the flame by being calm? By stating what it is that you need in this situation? And yeah, making sure that you’re not continuing, you know, they say Fire, fire and fire. It just doesn’t work.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Yeah. So have that inner sort of moment realising that poaching, it’s happening. It’s why I’m doing all of these things and buying them. I love that. And I know, we’ve talked about that through the course of the program and what that did, and the shift that it made in, you know, your relationships.

Potentially, personally, yeah, you’re part of a group program. And obviously, there’s always options, you can do one to one you can do group, share with us a little bit about what was beneficial for you from that experience, or indeed, what you found challenging about it.

Marsha

And what I’ve thought, and what I experienced was, share beauty, to be fair, so you know, they say the smallest beauty, having a small group was great, because everyone came from very different backgrounds, but also different perspectives, and came with different challenges, whereby, you know, there was continuous learning through each other. So whilst you were the coach, you know, hearing other people’s experiences, and even how they process information was really eye-opening, because sometimes like, Yeah, I do that, actually.

Or, I would have done that differently. However, I understand why you did it like that. So you’re constantly while you’re being coached by yourself, you’re also being coached by your, by your peers, which is just absolutely beautiful. For me. Anyway,

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

I love that as a word beauty as a group experience. And obviously, we talked a lot through the process around being a possiblist. And yes, really starting to see that anything is possible. When we rewire our brains, what you see now as possible that before we started working together might have seemed impossible.

Marsha

Okay, so this year, for my charity, we have decided that we’re going to double up. And doubling up means doubling up the money that we bring into the charity. So we have a target to bring in 300k into the charity for 2021.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

That’s in the air on record. There it is.

Marsha

I said it publicly. And I think before going through the coaching, I would have been long Yeah. But I believe it’s possible. And every time the self-doubt starts to creep in. I’m like, No, this is possible. So yeah,

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

What is it? Do you think that enabled you to get such a result? We’re actually now when you feel confronted by that self-doubt, or you’re looking at the way you are as a leader, etc? What is it about the way that we work together? That actually got you those.

Marsha

And remembering, in that the graffiti is not real. Yeah. So the negative speech is not real, it is only real if you make it real. And again, if you always have it at the forefront of your mind, everything is possible. What you are then doing is walking into possibilities.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Just bringing that consciousness to a lot of what we talked about, yeah, as we looked at all of the different challenges there that you were experiencing, and will continue to experience right. Everything’s you know, unicorns and rainbows. As they say, there are challenges. But actually, those tools and rewiring our brains are everything possible. I love it.

What if somebody or if what if we went back to that first word, so that was your adjective at the beginning? Like Absolutely. It won’t be an adjective that you would use to describe where you were after 12 weeks.

Marsha

Confidence. So, just confident that again Everything is possible. And you know what? You’re actually in control of your destiny. So, there we go.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Do you think people noticed something different about you as a result of the coaching? I mean, we’ve experienced this internally, our behaviour changes, what do you think people notice differently about you?

Marsha

struggling with life

Well, I work closely with my sisters. And after each of the sessions, I’d always share. So that’s a part of our growth as a team. And there have been times when I have a quite low tolerance. So you know, I am quite a high-functioning person. So when people are low functioning, and sometimes it can really be like, Grate me.

But you know, one of my sisters Oh, I can see that your the coaches work in, so you’re not getting triggered, or, you know, you dealt with that very differently. So that’s nice. And people can see your growth and your change based on, you know, an experience that you’re going through. So yeah.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

I love that. So actually, they were seeing changes which people should do right. After, you know, as you change, then other people start to see that in terms of your behaviour. I love it.

And I love what you do in the world, and that it’s with your sisters, and that we’ve been able to be a part of that growth for you individually, which means as a team, they’ve benefited, which means the women that you work with and the girls that you impact, it just is that wonderful domino effect, which we just saw and working with very mission-led CEOs, like you leaders of organisations.

So finally, if someone’s watching this, Marsha, wherever they are in the world, whatever their role is, because as you said, you know, it was a very diverse group, what are they feeling inspired by your journey from going from overwhelmed, to confident? What would you say to them, if they’re maybe hesitating or just sort of thinking about coaching?

Marsha

I would say do it for you. Coaching is a personal experience. And you do not need to be coached on your business. We as individuals, as human beings, deserve to have an opportunity to be coached, even if it’s once in a lifetime. Do it for you.

Gitanjali – High Definition You Coach

Do it for you. That’s what’s gonna stay with me. I love it. Well, thank you for joining me to share your success story, Marsha, and please go check out BelEve it is a magnificent organisation. You’re doing some great work, and now we’ve got it on a record 300k for this year. I’ll be right there with you, helping you to make it happen.

Marsha

Thank you. Thank you so much!
